Data stored by Tempocean

Tempocean has no user accounts and does not ask for names, email addresses or precise location. The selected map region is stored locally in your browser using localStorage so it can be restored on your next visit. You can remove it by selecting “All regions” or clearing this site’s browser storage.

Infrastructure logs

Tempocean's web server and hosting provider may process standard request information such as IP address, browser type, requested page and timestamp for security, service operation and short-term aggregate traffic measurement.

Aggregate visitor count

Once per day, Tempocean calculates an approximate number of unique visitors from requests for the home page. A visitor is approximated using the combination of IP address and browser user-agent. This combination is hashed only in memory while counting. The IP address, user-agent and resulting hash are not written to the statistics file; only the date and total visitor count are retained. No analytics data is sent to a third party.

External services

Map tiles are loaded from OpenStreetMap Foundation servers, which receive technical request information including your IP address and referring page. Leaflet assets are currently loaded from the unpkg content delivery network, which also receives standard request information. Their processing is governed by their respective privacy policies.

Cookies and advertising

Tempocean does not currently use advertising, analytics cookies or tracking cookies. The aggregate visitor count does not store anything on your device.
